5 little things to cheer you up in winter

Winter is well and truly here, it feels like it’s been a long old slog this week, with train strikes, snow (well sleet, not enough to call a snow day!) and to top it all off I have a cold. With the freezing weather and the coughs and colds starting to work their way through the office, it’s easy to get a bit down. I for one don’t want to get the January blues, so I have put together a list of things I do to cheer myself up during the winter.

Hot Shower

After a long day, and being out in the cold, it’s nice to come home and have a hot shower. I love using Original Source Shower gels, they smell amazing and remind me of the distant memory of summer, My favourite one at the moment is Mango.

A Duvet Evening

After powering through work dosed up to the eyeballs on Lemsip, it’s great to come home and change into some comfy clothes and sit under a duvet and binge watch a box set or two. I am currently watching old DVD box sets, my current binge series is Brothers & Sisters it’s my all time favourite.

Tea Time

In my opinion a cup of tea fixes everything! Especially when you have a cold it is very soothing. I like to drink peppermint tea in the evenings, as it’s good for after dinner bloating. I’m a big fan of Twinings fruit teas especially the Cinnamon and Cherry flavour. FYI lemon and ginger with a bit of honey is perfect when you have a cold.

Comfort Food

When I’m feeling a bit under the weather, I like to make homemade tomato and aubergine soup with warm homemade bread. My go to soup recipe is from Hugh Fearnley- Whittingstall’s Light and Easy cookbook. His soup recipes are so quick to make, and there is something about homemade soup that instantly makes you feel better.

A Little Pamper

Another quick pick me up is having a little pamper sesh. I like to paint my nails, I find it a great way to unwind while that box set is on in the background. I am a creature of habit and my go to shade is Rimmel ‘It’s The Cherry On Top’, but I have recently switched it up and gone for ‘Beige Babe’ from The Rimmel Salon Pro Range.

I also love a face mask it’s a quick skin fix especially when the winter chill makes my skin dry and dull. I’m currently using L’oreal Skin Expert Pure Clay Purity Mask. After one use it makes my skin feel so soft.

What do you do to cheer yourself up during the winter? X
