Hey everybody how was the first day back to work yesterday? It felt very strange to be dressed and out of the house before midday, and there was no chocolate for breakfast either.
Anyway, on with today’s blog post, if you have been following me for a while you will know that I love a monthly favourites post. I like sharing with you all the beauty products I have been loving throughout a particular month.
So as a special post to end 2017 (ok a few days late but in my defence, I have been busy eating cheese and watching the Crown) – I want to share my ultimate beauty faves of 2017, which I will probably continue using way into 2018.
Throughout 2017, I have been loving so many products from L’oreal Paris. This is quite a new brand for me and I was surprised how affordable it is. I think one the first products I bought from their range was the Pure Clay Masks, I love a facial as it is a quick way to give your skin a lift and also it feels like a bit of treat for your skin.
This year they have added more clays to the range and bought out glow, brightness and blemish masks, you can either use them separately or use a certain mask for certain areas of your face this is known as multi masking (just in case you wondered). I just love them and they leave my skin feeling so soft.
Another product from L’oreal that I have been loving is the Infallible Matte Lip Paint in shade 211-Babe In, this is a lovely natural nude colour that you can wear every day, It is comfortable to wear and doesn’t dry out your lips.
The colour lasts for most of the day too so you aren’t constantly re-applying. This shade has become my go-to lip colour. The finish has a slight sheen to it, which I love.
I can’t write about L’oreal products without mentioning the Paradise Extatic Mascara. This mascara came out summer of 2017 and loads of beauty bloggers were raving about it! After trying it for myself I can see why. It leaves my lashes looking so much fuller and longer.
The application wand makes it very easy to apply. This mascara has real staying power and lasts throughout the day, I haven’t had to reapply it.
Another great plus for me is that it doesn’t clump my lashes together and it is very easy to remove. Other mascaras I have used in the past have taken ages to remove.
Lastly, my final beauty favourite from L’oreal I have to mention is the Hydra Genius Moisturiser. Another great product which aims to provide your skin with up to 72 hours of moisture, I have been loving this little gem. For its price point (under £10 when I bought it) it is definitely worth adding it to your skincare regime.
It is lightweight and absorbs into skin quickly, I use it every night, and in the mornings I have noticed my skin feeling a lot smoother and softer. I also use it after I have done a Pure Clay Facial.
From a new brand follows an old faithful and a firm favourite, I have used Rimmel London products for years and I still love them.
In 2017 Rimmel London has been my go-to brand for lip colours and lipsticks (all matte of course!) and of course nail polishes, I love all their bright vibrant colours and how quickly they dry. My two favourite shades are 340-Berries and Cream and 320-Rapid Ruby. So easy to apply and the shades that dry in 60 seconds are a godsend when you are in a hurry, which I often am.
One product that I have loved throughout 2017 is the Matte Lipstick in shade 700 Trendsetter. I love it, it is a slightly darker nude than Babe In from L’oreal and has a very subtle plum shade to it. It is the perfect shade for January. Trendsetter has been in my makeup bag all year long.
Soap and Glory
Soap and glory is another new brand for me in 2017, I know where have I been? I got a Soap and Glory gift set for Christmas and I was hooked! I just can’t get enough of Soap and Glory! Their products have given my skin such a pick me up! My two favourite products that I loved using in 2017 is the Heel Genius Amazing Foot Cream and the Flake Away Scrub.
Heel Genius leaves my feet feeling so soft and I have noticed the skin on my heels is a lot softer and less cracked. It has lovely fresh, floral and fruity scent and absorbs into skin quickly and isn’t greasy or oily.
Flake away Scrub I just love! It contains Shea Butter and has a lovely apricot scent. Massaged into damp skin in circular motions until all the grains are gone, you rinse the rest away and once dry my legs look and feel really smooth.
With shaving my skin can get a little dry, so I have loved using this scrub as it makes my legs feel silky smooth.
I could go on and on in this post as I have discovered lots of new beauty products in 2017, but I’m worried I might bore you. But I can’t end this post without mentioning a few more favourites.
Years ago when I first grow my nails I would always pick up a Revlon nail varnish, they were amazing, but in 2017 my staple product is their Colorstay Foundation. I have never been a big fan of foundations, I was a BB cream or CC cream kinda gal for many years. But now I’m a bit older I need better coverage.
Buying the right shade can be a bit daunting as there are so many to choose from but after spending a morning in Boots trying out a load of different ones I found the ‘one’ for me. It gives a light natural coverage but you can build up to a fuller coverage if you need to. It doesn’t feel heavy and it is nice to wear all day. It also has SPF protection which is a nice plus.
My final 2017 beauty favourite is Simple Regeneration Age Resisting Day Cream SPF 15.
No matter what time of year it is, I always apply this day cream. It would be my desert island product. I apply it every morning without fail. I think it is always very important to have SPF coverage on your face all year round.
I always apply this cream before I apply any makeup. It doesn’t make my skin greasy or oily, it just makes my skin feel really soft and smooth. I also like the added protection of the SPF 15 as it is a must for me in any daily moisturiser.
So these have been my 2017 ultimate beauty favourites. I would love to know what have been your star products of 2017? Let me know in the comment box below xx
