Wow, what a June that was! My monthly favourites for this month is a little bit different. I haven’t really bought anything (well I may have picked up a few dresses in the sales, I won’t share them just yet)
Instead of spending my weekends in Boots and buying loads of makeup,
I have spent my hard earned cash on a number of different activities, with lots of friends, which is what summer is all about!
So this is what I have been up to this June…
Birthday Beach BBQ
We have been quite lucky with the weather this month, we have had some really lovely sunny days, that fell on a weekend (result). The first Saturday in June was a beautiful sunny day, and my Boyfriend Brendan had planned his annual summer Birthday BBQ.
All of our friends head down to our usual spot at Goring Gap, with BBQ food and booze and we just chill out for the whole day.
I had a little paddle in the sea and eat loads of lovely food which was prepared by Brendan (with a little help from me). It was a great day and the perfect start to the summer.
Ladies that Brunch
The second Saturday of June, I met up with a few girlfriends and we went to the North Laines Brewhouse for a Bottomless Brunch. I have been here a few times now and love it. There is a good choice of breakfasts from a traditional fry up to vegetarian and vegan options.
You also get the choice of 2 bottomless cocktails until 3pm, Mimosa (prosecco and orange juice) or a Bloody Mary (made with Brighton Hot Stuff sauce, vodka, tomato juice and Worcester sauce). We all went for the Mimosa’s, and the fry up.
It was a great party atmosphere, we played a bit of bingo and had a little dance to some cheesy pop songs. We may have been a little bit tipsy before 3pm (shhhh) but it was lovely to have a proper girly afternoon, we finished the day at the beach having a few gins.
I love living near Brighton, as there always seems to be something new to discover. Though Instagram I found Brighton Gin Club. Run by fellow gin lovers Jason and Jo, on the hunt for interesting and exciting gins, gin pairings and general gin knowledge, and best of all they want to share all this knowledge with fellow gin lovers like you and me.
I went to a meet the maker evening with Fentiman’s (the brewers of premium mixers, as if you didn’t know already) in an intimate setting in Skyfall restaurant in Hove.
Throughout the evening we were treated to a brief history lesson about Fentimans, and the unique way they brew (yes, brew) their mixers. All while tasting three different gins, paired perfectly with Fentimans mixers.
Anyone for Tennis?
This week see’s the start of Wimbledon, and last week I went along to the Eastbourne International. This is an women’s tournament that is seen as the warm up to Wimbledon, as the tournament is played on grass.
This year was slightly different as they had a Men’s tournament on as well, which had Novak Djokovic entered as a wild card. I have gone to the Eastbourne International a few times, but this year has by far been my favourite visit.
Last year when I went, i hardly saw any tennis due to rain, but this time around the weather stayed dry and I got to see loads of great games. Johanna Konta played twice due to rain delays on previous days. She beat Jeļena Ostapenko, 7 – 5, 3-6, 6-4 in her first game and she came back after an injury to beat world number 2, Angelique Kerber, 6-3, 6-4, in a nail biting final point. I also saw Caroline Wozniacki, come back from a first set defect to win the game. (7-5, 6-4, 6-1)
The last Johanna Konta match was the best match I saw from the day, and I am really rooting for her to do well at Wimbledon this year.
I also had a few glasses of Pimms while I watched all the action unfold. If you want to watch some great tennis, I really recommend going along to Eastbourne, as it is a great day out.
So that’s it’s for my June favourites, a little different this time around, but I have been doing lots of different things lately and I wanted to share them with you. Until next time x
